Snaps for Sharon!

January 16, 2006 / It's been two and a half years since I was last home and when I discovered by accident that Kath and Kim was playing on cable tv I was like, Oh My Lord, Kimmy, Kimmy! I was not a hardcore fan before I moved to the States, but now that I live in the northeast, I can go a long time without hearing epithets like "foolscap," "Warney" and "Harvey Norman." I nearly lost my shit when Sharon (Karen) Strezlecki performed her flipper for the guy at work.

Kath and Kim is saving my Aussie bacon right now. It’s been two and a half years since I was last home and when I discovered by accident that Kath and Kim was playing on cable tv I was like, Oh My Lord, Kimmy, Kimmy! I was not a hardcore fan before I moved to the States, but now that I live in the northeast, I can go a long time without hearing epithets like “foolscap,” “Warney” and “Harvey Norman.” I nearly lost my shit when Sharon (Karen) Strezlecki performed her flipper for the guy at work. Champagne comedy as Gormo would say. So I use my modest forum to express a personal debt of gratitude to Gina Riley, Jane Turner, Magda Szubanski, Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn for defending my cultural skin. Yeah, nah—I love you’s all.

Well, Adrian, I was a fan of K&K before & after coming to the UK. I simply cannot get enough of the absurdity and stupidity of all the characters in the show. I can’t actually select a favourite as I love them all at different times. The final episode of the third series, by which time Sharon has married Kim’s husband, is absolutely classic! Anway, I could rave on about K&K (and Sharon) all day! It seems that nowadays I am more interested in talking about matters of absurdity than discussing serious issues…My brain can’t deal with analysis anymore! Oh, I think Little Britain is calling me on the TV, have to go!
