The art of Siggi Eggertsson is truly captivating. This image is part of his piece En Plein Air, which he describes thusly:

I wanted to modernize the working methods of the Impressionists, who took their canvases outside and painted what was in front of them. My idea was to take my computer outside, and draw what i saw. This image was drawn on top of a 12 floor building in Friedrichshain.

Cézanne with wi-fi? The feel of his work seems so at home on Zero to One-Eighty. It reminds me of the new direction evident in Jon Hicks’ design when he redesigned his web site earlier this year. There’s something about those Europeans and their rounded edges.

I love this guy’s art and being a graduate of an Icelandic school adds to the mystique for me. Its just a shame that his website isn’t anywhere as compelling as his other art.

I think I agree with you, at least partially. In his “About” information Eggertsson explains that he views his recent redesign as his favourite web work to date. I think that the site is interesting — it actually reminds me of the design that Elena and I implemented for her site, kind of old school HTML — though (as a standards-based developer) I’m obviously a little disappointed at the tables-based layout.
