My Flickr workflow is pants

July 26, 2009 / Image preparation is a pain in the arse.

[using Adobe Bridge for image processing]

One day I will improve on this lame-arse Flickr workflow:

  1. View new photos in Bridge (~/Pictures/setname)
  2. Reject unwanted photos
  3. Adjust image order, if needed
  4. Tools → Batch Rename as setname_000x.jpg to ~/Pictures/setname/_renamed
  5. Go to ~/Pictures/setname/_renamed in Bridge
  6. Tools → Photoshop → Batch… → Play “Resize for Flickr” to ~/Pictures/setname/_resized (to 1024 x 768px)
  7. Go to ~/Pictures/setname/_resized in Bridge
  8. Tools → Photoshop → Batch… → Play “Optimise for Flickr” to ~/Pictures/setname/_opt (set to around 50)
  9. Check these images in Preview.app
  10. Upload to Flickr…

Wide open to suggestions.

    Picasa. Export. Flickr Uploadr.

You can play the “I will Photoshop the crap out of every picture I take and only upload perfect ones” game, but you will lose. Or, more specifically, I WILL LOSE precious pictures of my pretty, pretty Elena because you’ll get burnt out. And I hate losing.

Alright, very noted. Just resizing and optimising them in Photoshop. If Picasa can do that (and doesn’t have an atrocious license) then we may have a deal.
