The last ten

Thanks Jack. A mechanic friend impressed on me at a young age that cars run much more efficiently when they are warm on the highway. Seems that was truer in the 1990s than the 2000s, too.…

i found this post because I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville (full size) car with the 3800 v6 engine and just got 32 mpg on a trip from Boston to NYC, all highway, with cruise engaged at 65 mph, no traffic, with one person in the car. Fantastic mileage I'd say for a ten year old car with 82,000 miles. I keep very accurate records using an iphone app, GasBuddy, and only fill up with full tanks. If I use 87 octane, I average 17.4 mpg in my combined highway/suburban roads commute, and if I step it…

Tasmania is all those things, but I live here so it lacks of mystery and exoticism of north-Eastern U.S. in the winter time. On wolfishness: our labradoodle gets much the same look, but given he was described last Thursday as 'that tubby dog with the perm and the goatee', it can be hard to recognise. I can't believe you lived in Brisbane and now you live here. It seems like a storybook to someone for whom a cold day is -2 deg. cent. and a heavy frost on the rhubarb. I like the look on Genie's face: it's wolf-dog, a super-alertness as she feels the wild blood of her wolf ancestors rises in response to the forest.…

That was exactly how I felt when I saw Lockie’s shots. I don’t like the Brisbane summer heat either, really don’t miss it at all, but storms like that are pretty great.…

Oh. It's summer here but a different summer - not a Brisbane summer. I hate Brisbane summers with a sweaty, grouchy, take-the-heat personally passion, but nothing kicks the nostalgia up a notch as photos of a summer storm.…
