Love, etc.

March 16, 2009 / Pet Shop Boys, still awesome.

The new video is amazing, watch it…

The patterns and illustrations in Pet Shop Boys’ “Love, etc.” are beautiful—shades of “Take on Me” with a wry glance at Monty Python. The animation feels like an orchestra conductor waving one of those sticks around. In a good way. Strong pop song, with a bit of grit under the hood. The Boys have still got it. (Via Michael.)

‘…shades of “Take on Me” with a wry glance at Monty Python.’

Well, that’s close to perfect. Back in the day (waaaay back), Take on Me was the most romantic thing I’d ever come across, save for Don Henley’s Boys of Summer (which for years I thought was Voice of Summer, and I read it as a metaphor for some unspecified thing).

I suspect my music sensibilities are unrivaled.
