Ok, quick update.

The web developer extension now works in Firefox 2.0
Google Reader is giving the other RSS aggregation tools a run for their money, apparently.
Smultron is a very competent open source (read free) text editor for Mac OSX.

I'm considering retracting my comments on iTunes 7 as its part of Mac OSX. I'm shitty with OSX as 10.4.8 has completely broken wireless networking on the MacBook. At least with 10.4.7 it worked some of the time...

Thanks for the tip Jo, I haven't used it before but it looks very nice. I think I even heard about this a while back. I'll take a look.

I like Safari for its integrated dictionary look-up (CMD-CTRL-D) and its handling of RSS.

The dictionary function, about which I had no clue, is sweet. Apple never fails to amaze me with the key combo functions that they've implemented very quietly on the side. I loved Safari's RSS handling until the number of feeds and my habit of checking them all at once made that untenable. I think that issue comes down to how you use RSS, and how much.

Props to Quicksilver, all the way. It's the only application that's permanently open on my system now. Well, that and the Dashboard which I can't turn off.

Interesting timing on your post. I have recently become more attached to Safari than ever before. 2.0.4 works pretty well except for a couple of rendering issues now and then. I like Safari for its integrated dictionary look-up (CMD-CTRL-D) and its handling of RSS.

I've used Firefox since the days before the switch. In fact, Firefox was my first software download post switch. Never really like its handling of RSS, but I haven't played with that feature in some time. I like that TinyMCE (as used by WordPress) works in Firefox. Ads, you'll need to get the Web Developer extension for Firefox which is amazing. In the recent re-design of my site, I used the real-time CSS editor with amazing results. I'm still on 1.5 however, so I'll go get 2.0 after this.

NetNewsWire is one app that I have never touched. I just haven't gotten around to it. I use Safari for my essential reading and iTunes 7.0 for my Ze fix. I used to use a personalised Google Homepage, but slowly grew away from it. RSS isn't a big part of my online time, except for the low volume sites I like. My popular visits all live in the book mark bar.

TextWrangler has also replaced all other text editors for me. If I gauge it right, we must have changed around the same time. I like it, especially the integrated FTP part...

The Three for me are Skype, Quicksilver and Text Wrangler. Honourable mentions go to CyberDuck, Transmission and iTunes 7.
